How We Met……

         Who ever thought that a camping trip on the weekend of April 18 – 20, 2003 would forever change our lives.  We had known each other prior to camping but had never really talked much.  After a few conversations and midnight hikes up steep gravel hills, we discovered that we had much to talk about.  Our conversations continued when we returned to Calgary and turned into a full blown relationship.

In September of 2005, Ryan bought a puppy that would forever change the way that we look at pets.  Ferrari is a one of a kind Pitbull / German Shepard cross (the best $200 Ryan ever spent).  She is a joy to have around and is like a kid to us. 

At the time Ryan was living with Matt, Curtis and Reed who all took a part in raising Ferrari.  One day, Reed came home to inform us that he was going to be moving to Las Vegas to be a cast member in the Cirque de Soleil show “Love”.  Being the chance of a lifetime, Reed left to move to Vegas.  His moving opened up a spot at Matt’s house, and after being asked only once, I moved in.  It has been 3 years that we have lived together and we’re still going strong.

It has been 5 years since that camping trip, and now we’re getting married !!!  Ironically, camping trips seem to be the most eventful trips that we take.  Last year, on August 29, while camping in Tofino with 3 good friends of ours, Angie, Bret and Curtie, we got engaged!  Ryan popped the question in Schooner Cove under the most amazing moon rising above the mountains.  No better romantic setting for the occasion.  After a few minutes of me asking “are you sure?” the decision was made !!  We were actually going to get married.  Now for the hard part…..planning a wedding….

On the trek back to Calgary we had a lot of time to chat about what we wanted to do, where we would like to have the wedding and when.  Conversation usually turned to how beautiful the island was and how much fun we had out there, so naturally, after a while, it clicked.  Let’s get married in Tofino !!

So that was that, Tofino it is !!  A few phone calls and emails later it was set, August 1, 2009.  Much to our suprise it was one of the easiest decisions to make.  There was no doubt in our minds that this hidden paradise on the West Coast of Canada was the perfect setting.
